PRESS RELEASE: NEA ANNOUNCES 2007 NEA AWARDS NOMINEES

The Producers of the Second Annual NEA Awards announces its Nomination for the 2007 NEA Awards.

    /Performing Arts PR News/ - NEW YORK, NY, May 31, 2007 - The Producers of the NEA Award Show on May 22nd announced its 2007 Nominees for the Second Annual NEA Awards. The Nominees for this years Award show scheduled for this summer in New York City is loaded with familiar names in the Nigerian Music, Fashion, Sport and Film industry.

Last years R & B artist Banky is nominated twice this year for the Best International Album of the year for the album "Back in the Buildin" and also nominated for the single of the year with his hit song " Capable". Nominated alongside Banky for best Album category are Eldee for Return of the King, Amplifyd Crew for "Amplifyd", Chamillionaire for "Ultimate Victory" and Lemar for "Truth About Love."

In the Nigeria Music scene the competition is fierce, Afro pop artist Dbanj leads all nominees with four nominations that includes Best Album of the year for "Funked Up " album, hottest single of the year for the song "Why Me", Best Collabo of the year with Don Jazzy for "Tongolo" and Best Afro Pop Act of the Year . Also with four nominations is Afro pop artist Paul Play for Best Album of the year for "Hitsville", hottest single of the year for the song "Angel of my Life", Best Afro Pop Act of the Year and Music Producer of the Year. Tuface Idibia, last year's African Breakthrough Artist of the year at the NEA Award Show, came in with three nominations himself for Best Album of the year for "Grass2Grace", hottest single of the year for the song "For Instance" and Best Collabo of the year with Soul E. for the hit song "E Be Like Say." P Square, Faze and Wierd MC all have two nominations each. Faze and Wierd MC were both nominated for Hottest single of the year and Best Collabo of the year while P Square got the Best Collabo of the year and Best Afro Pop Act of the Year nominations.

In the film category, the Best Actress Category is shaping out to be the most highly contested category with nominee Stella Damascus nominated for "Dangerous Twins", Chioma Chukwuka for "Eagles Bride", Rita Dominic for "Girls Cot", Ini Edo for "Kingdom Apart" and Omotola for "Sounds of Silence." In the men's category, the nominee for Best Actor are Nkem Owoh for "Osoufia in London", Olu Jacobs for "Eagles Pride", Kanayo O. Kanayo for "Desperate Billionaire", Desmond Elliot for "Games Women Play" and Ramsy Nouah for "Dangerous Twins".

U.S. residents can vote for their favorite artists at www.nigeriaentawards.com and Nigeria residents can vote via SMS Text voting. Voting begins on Tuesday May 22nd, 2007. Winners will be announced this summer at the Award ceremony on July 21st 2007 at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts, New York University .
