Rubin's Chicago Room Gallery

At the request of Hank Zemola, President of Chicago Events, Rubin's Chicago Room Gallery, 3318 N Halsted St., hosts the "Chicago Room Showcase Stage," a world class Fine-Art performance stage at Buckingham and Halsted during Northalsted Market Days on August 11-12.

Fine-Arts, from the creative worlds of painting, dance, music, theater, fashion and comedy will be in exhibition on the spectacular Chicago Room Stage. Paintings are an integral aspect of room and set design. A range of Marc Rubin's art, which exemplifies his range and diversity as an artist will be incorporated as backdrops for select performances.

Rubin initially made a name for himself in 1973 when as a young prodigy of twenty-three, his Surreal Pointillist masterpiece "Ladies of the Canyon" hung in competition at the Art Institute of Chicago by unanimous consent of all four curator judges and was proclaimed a genius. Immediately sponsorship by Roche Bobois for a Paris exhibition ensued. Marc rapidly sold works of Impressionism into nine countries. The French, eager not to damage Marc's career by pigeonholing him, encouraged Marc to paint in all the styles he wanted to fully express his vision.

Upon Rubin's return to Chicago, Marc was less well received by the Chicago art critics who demanded he adhere to one style of visual language. In response, Marc was commissioned to create new genres including Pop-Cubism and Synchronism and thus influenced a new generation of widely known artists through personal interactions and familiarity with Rubin's paintings.

Marc frequently paints music and dance. His musical unveilings are true theater As a true Fine Artist, Rubin has training in all the arts and is enveloped in them. The Arts freely share. Music is a crucial for the dance troupes on The Chicago Room Showcase Stage including the Boitsov Ballet, Flamenco Triana, Cerqua-Rivera Dance Theater and Chicago Tap Theater.

Musicians and musical groups on the stage include James Scalfani, Dylan Lloyd, Jeanne Tanner, The August and Rob Juice. They inspire motion and dance. Many of our performing artists can be heard on the radio in Chicagoland and other states.

The Refugee Girls Revue, written by I/O alumnus Jenna Friedman, combines lyrical writing, music, comedy and dance into a funny, touching and thought provoking experience. Designer Miguel Becerril, Brazilian Soul Fashions and Mephisto Leather will also have fashion shows on the Chicago Room Showcase Stage.

The Chicago Room Showcase Stage would not be possible without the support of our many community sponsors including Mid Town Bank, Treasure Island and Asian Human Services. To show appreciation, the Chicago Room is hosting a two day catered reception in the gallery for our stage entertainers, sponsors and the media.

An entertainment and sponsorship schedule to date is posted on our website at www.chicagoroomgallery.com.
