Cady Finlayson Band Brings Spirited Irish Music to Texas

AUSTIN, TX, October 23, 2008 /Performing Arts PR News/ -- On Saturday, November 15th at 7 p.m., the Cady Finlayson Band will perform Spirited Irish Music in Austin, TX. The concert is part of the Open Ears Concert Series and will be held at St. Andrew's Church, 14311 Wells Port Drive, Austin, TX 78728. Office number for the church is (512) 251-0698. Admission is by suggested donation of $10.

Called "one of America's top Celtic fiddlers", Cady Finlayson offers a spirited Irish fiddle show with a global twist. Cady's music blends traditional Irish tunes with and American folk and world music influences. creating a signature sound that appeals to a variety of audiences. "I love to bring Irish music to people who might not normally hear it," she says.
She has performed in 33 U.S. States at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Jacob Javits Center and Cleveland's State Theater. Her three fiddle cds have attracted listeners from Australia to Japan, and her Irish Coffee CD was one of the CDs nominated for "Best Celtic CD of 2007" by the NAR Lifestyle Awards. Cady's playing can be heard on the soundtrack to Irish-American film, "The Emerald Diamond" (about the Irish National Baseball team), on an Irish aerobics DVD and in Japanese Car Audio DVD Magazine Oto Gumi. She holds a Master of Music degree from Mannes College of Music in NYC and also attended the Blas International Summer School in Limerick, Ireland.

Based in New York City, Cady's all-star band includes Dublin-born singer Marina Meyler, French guitarist Vita Tanga and Ireland's own Shane O'Sullivan on percussion. They are in Texas in November as part of the World United Music Festival in San Marcos, TX (performing there on Sunday November 16th, time tba).
