A whole new era of the Snow Queen, performed by California Contemporary Ballet, will dawn December 19-21 at Glendale Community College Performing Arts Theatre.

Experience the adventures of young Gerda as she persists to save her best friend Kai. Enjoy all the characters she meets while on her journey including the Enchantress, the Crows, the Gypsies, and the Prince and Princess. Open yourself to the world of the Snow Queen as she reverses an old tragedy and brings tears of joy to an entire village!
"The Snow Queen" ballet is created complete with brilliant lighting and set design, custom hand sewn costumes, versatile choreography by Erin Holt and an original moving musical score by Randall Michael Tobin.
The ballet is presented by the stellar career dancers of California Contemporary Ballet and Youth Company members, who perform with remarkable power and passion. Enjoy a memorable and moving experience as they take you on a journey to the inner realm of the Snow Queen - a refreshing alternative to the many Nutcrackers during the holidays.

Formerly operating under the name California Theatrical Youth Ballet, the company changed its name when the formation of a professional company, California Contemporary Ballet (CCBallet), was established in February 2008. Originally established by Erin Holt, the company's visionary choreographer and Artistic Director, the company continues to establish itself as one of Southern California's burgeoning dance companies. Featuring a unique brand of classical and contemporary dance works, CCBallet is a non-profit company that provides its members the opportunity to perform an exciting repertoire of innovative and original dance projects performed in concerts, theaters and festivals throughout Southern California. Most recently, the company traveled to perform at the Janacek Conservatory in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where they were honored to receive an invitation to perform "Blind Journey", an original ballet by Ms. Holt, under the auspices of the Prague International Ballet.
