The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle Concert January 18
The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle will hold its first concert of 2009 on January 18. The concert will be at 3 p.m. at the Carolina Theatre in Durham.
CHAPEL HILL, NC, January 13, 2009 /Performing Arts PR News/ -- Lorenzo Muti, artistic director and conductor of The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (www.thecot.org), announces today the orchestra will hold its first concert of 2009 on January 18. The 3 p.m. concert will be held in the historic Fletcher Hall at the Carolina Theatre in Durham.
The concert will consist of performances of Muzio Clementi's "Symphony in D major, op. 18 no. 2"; Franz Joseph Haydn's "Symphony No. 98 in B flat"; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Symphony No. 36 in C 'Linz,' K. 425."
"The January program focuses on three works written within a few decades of each other," adds Muti. "The central work will be the Haydn Symphony, for two main reasons: Of his late symphonies, this is the least performed one, and it represents one of the most complex and intriguing symphonic works ever written by him. Haydn's style pervades the other two composers' symphonies, both as a matter of structure and of treatment of the thematic material."
To emphasize its commitment to engaging young people with great classical music, the orchestra provides free seating at every concert to students of all ages.
