Unity Community Center of Camden NJ Raises Funds for Competition in Africa

    CAMDEN, NJ, February 10, 2010 /Performing Arts PR News/ -- The Unity Community Center of Camden NJ presents the 25th Annual "Black History Month Celebration on Sunday, February 21st at Rutgers University's Camden Campus. This event will feature the various performing art groups from the Unity Community Center as well as other local artists whose performances will be inspired by the likes of Harriet Tubman, Marian Anderson and Billy Holiday just to name a few.

The Unity Community Center has been an active in youth training, education, performing arts and drug prevention in the city of Camden for over 26 years. An essential element in providing the city's youth & young adults with programs empowering self defense, self discipline & art. The UCC has performed all over the globe creating a reputation of organized talent and longevity.

In the past, Camden has had a negative title as one of the country's most violent cities, but the Unity Community Center challenges that title with TALENT, UNITY, SUCCESS and international recognition. The UCC's Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble has been chosen to represent the U.S.A. At the FESMAN 2010 WORLD ARTS FESTIVAL in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. Over 80 nations will send their best artists and performers to the competition and the Unity Community Center is proud and honored to be representing the United States of America.

The Unity Community Center of S.J. Inc., is the parent organization to all of the performing art programs, which includes the Universal Pasha Karate School, Universal African Dance & Drum Ensemble, UPK Pasha Generals, UCC Praise Dance Ministry, UCC Music Ensemble & Brass Band, Dean Tree and more. The founder; Mr. Robert H. Dickerson, along with his wife Wanda and family are also the creators, artistic directors, choreographers and teachers, with other great professionals of this established performing art's programs.
