Anyone heading to Kuala Lumpur should consider taking in a show of traditional dancing while in the city.
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, April 23, 2010 /Performing Arts PR News/ -- People who have booked Kuala Lumpur hotels may want to experience some traditional Malaysian culture while staying in the city.
One of the best places to head to if you are looking to inject some culture into your stay is the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC).
This organisation is located in the centre of the capital on Jalan Ampang and is easily accessible from many of the main tourist areas.
On three days each week, the centre offers an afternoon performance of traditional Malay dancing, which takes place between 15:00 and 15:45 (local time) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Visitors will be treated to a display of the Cuti-Cuti dance, which was introduced by the Malaysian Tourism Ministry in 2009 as a way of combining a number of different cultural dances.
According to the Bernama news agency, it includes elements from the ethnic dances from the Zapin, Chinese, Indian, Sabah and Sarawak cultures.
The events, which showcase some spectacular costumes as well as dance moves, cost RM5 (GBP1) per person. There are also evening shows on Saturday, which start at the later time of 20:30 and last for 45 minutes.
Anyone who is not able to take in one of the cultural performances may still want to visit the MaTiC because it also houses a permanent exhibition about the country's heritage.
