The 6th Street Sundays Series Presents Spirited Irish Music in New York City December 11th, 3 pm; The Concert Features Cady Finlayson & Vita Tanga, Will be Held at 325 E. 6th St. in Manhattan
On Sunday December 11th at 3 pm, the 6th Street Sundays Series presents an Irish Music show featuring fiddle-guitar duo Cady Finlayson & Vita Tanga. The show takes place in New York City, 325 E. 6th St. and includes two workshops an hour before.
BROOKLYN, NY, November 29, 2011 /Performing Arts PR News/ -- On Sunday December 11th at 3 pm, Cady Finlayson & Vita Tanga bring Spirited Irish music to the 6th Street Sundays Series, located at 325 E. 6th St, in Manhattan. Their fiddle/guitar show blends Irish fiddle tunes with American folk and world music influences, appealing to a wide variety of audiences.
One hour before the show, at 2 pm, the duo will offer two workshops
1. Irish fiddle music (how to give your tunes that Irish lilt) - all instruments welcome
2. Spice up your playing with Global Guitar Styles
Admission is $15 at the door and includes 2 pm workshops, 3 pm show and one drink.
All ages welcome.
Cady Finlayson, fiddle
Cady Finlayson has brought her Spirited Irish fiddling to 35 states, performing at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Blackstone Valley Celtic Festival, and Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. She studied Irish fiddle in Limerick, Ireland at the Blas World Music Centre, and has been an ambassador for Irish music ever since. Music from her Harp and Shamrock CD can be heard in Irish-American baseball movie, The Emerald Diamond and documentary film Child of Giants. Her CDs include Irish Coffee, Harp and Shamrock, Shines Like Silver and Electric Green.
Vita Tanga, guitar
Vita has performed and recorded on four continents, from Radio City Music Hall in New York to Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris - his hometown. A sought-after composer in World/Urban music and film scoring, Vita brings his world music influences to the duo. Vita met Cady while playing on the First National Tour of Almost Heaven (a show about John Denver) and they have been playing Irish music together ever since.
